In June 2000, we visited Burlington's Pineland Public School with our 13-year-old male peregrine falcon "Pablo". We haven't received any feedback from the students, but here is a letter from the school:
On behalf of the staff and students of our Grades 1 to 6 classes at Pineland Public School, I would like to express appreciation to the Canadian Peregrine Foundation and Canada Trust's Friends of the Environment Foundation for enabling us to participate in your "Project School Visit" program.
Over 500 students in our school had a unique and rare opportunity to meet a falcon and to learn about the challenges that increased urbanization have presented to the survival of this endangered species. Through the presentation the staff and students came to understand the work being done by the Peregrine Foundation to protect and preserve these birds so that they continue to play their important role in nature. Students also renewed and enhanced understandings of actions they can take as individuals to help protect the environment necessary to the survival of these birds and other Canadian wildlife.
Once again, thank you for providing this very valuable learning experience for our students.
Sincerely,
Linda
