In October 2001 we visited Oakville's Pilgrim Wood Public School with our young male peregrine falcon "Oscar". Below is a letter from the school, and a couple of drawings from the students:
On Thursday October 11, 2001 Pilgrim Wood Public School met Oscar (up close). What a wonderful opportunity we had learning about falcons - thanks to the excellent presentation by Miss Tracy Simpson. At present, we are studying the Diversity of Living Things - part of the new Grade 6 Science curriculum. Tracy's presentation, emphasizing food chains and habitat, tied in perfectly. I am certain the dinner tables at the homes of our Grade 4 and Grade 6 students were abuzz last evening over this enriching experience. To TD Canada Trust Friends of the Environment Foundation we send our special thanks for allowing Oscar to visit our school and share his story. Sincerely, Paul M. Taylor |
