Project School Visit:
Palmerston Avenue Public School (Toronto)

Visit sponsored by: the New Ontario Trillium Foundation

In May 2000, we visited Toronto's Palmerston Avenue School with our 1-year-old male peregrine falcon "Scotty".  We haven't received any feedback from the students, but here is a letter from the school:

I would like to take this opportunity to let you know how pleased I was with the bird presentation by the Canadian Peregrine Foundation last spring.

It was presented in a comprehensive and enjoyable way to the children, aged 6 to 10.  Your presenter, Mark Nash, was informative and well-spoken.  The students were mesmerized by his presentation which included maps, videos of the nesting bird and of course the trained Peregrine falcon.

The students have taken away with them a greater appreciation of the fragility of the struggle for survival of this bird.

My teacher colleagues, like me, have praised the presentation and know that other schools would benefit and enjoy this educational experience.

The presentation by the Canadian Peregrine Foundation complements the Ministry of Education's Life Sciences curriculum.

Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Rose Hussanee
Teacher
