In January 2002, we visited Brampton's Mother Mary Ward Catholic School with our female peregrine falcon "Penny". Below are some comments from the students and teachers:
COMMENTS FROM GRADE 5 STUDENTS:
"interesting to learn about the falcon"
"interesting because before the presentation I didn't know anything about peregrine falcons and now I do"
"really cool learning about how they protect themselves and how they eat"
"it wasn't a presentation that we hoped would finish. We found everything very interesting and fun to learn about, we wanted to learn more"
"he went over everything very clearly so we could understand what he was talking about"
"exciting, because you got to see a peregrine falcon in real life"
"I liked the part when he told us stories of how the birds camouflage"
"my favourite part was when the bird came out"
COMMENTS FROM THE TEACHERS:
"The presentation about the peregrine falcon was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The students were attentive and eager to discover about the peregrine falcon. Actually having a peregrine falcon to show the students gave them something to relate to. It was a well thought out and organized presentation. Leaving the school with a video and student books allows us to further increase our knowledge and curiosity of peregrine falcons."
"Students learn to respect all living creatures"
"The video and the peregrine falcon helped to clarify and bring to life what the presenter was sharing"
