Project School Visit:
Maple Wood Public School (Mississauga)

Visit sponsored by:  TD Friends of the Environment Foundation

In May 2002, we visited Mississauga's Maple Wood Public School with our female peregrine falcon, "Ariel".  Below is a letter from the principal:

On Friday May 24, 2002 we were fortunate to have a presentation at our school done by Maya Basdeo of the Canadian Peregrine Foundation.  Students in grades 4-6 heard about the habits of these endangered birds and got to see Ariel, the peregrine falcon.  Staff and students alike learned a great deal about what these birds can do, how they are unique and specially designed for flying at very high speeds.

The peregrine falcon presentation tied in well with the Ontario curriculum, specifically, "Habitats" and we received a very informative booklet that we can use as a resource.

We are very grateful to the Canadian Peregrine Foundation and the TD Canada Trust Friends of the Environment Foundation for making this possible for our students.
