In January 2000, we visited David Hornell Park Public School in downtown Toronto with our one-year-old peregrine falcon "Scotty". We haven't received any feedback from the students, but here is a letter from the principal:
Your presentation to our students on January 19th was terrific! I was impressed at how attentive the children were and how well they responded to your questions. The variety in your presentation plus the visit by the live peregrine no doubt had a great deal to do with this.
Our students have been learning about extinct birds and this was a perfect opportunity to learn about an endangered species. Let's hope that the impact of your presentation will help them to understand what their generation can do to ensure that someday the peregrine can be removed from the endangered list.
I have already sent a letter to thank Mark Szkoda and Tarpan Sections Ltd. for their generous sponsorship of this event. I wish your association much success in educating other children about the need to protect our environment and its inhabitants. Sincerely,Gerald Gibson, Principal
