In November 2000, we visited Holy Child Catholic School in Etobicoke with our two-year-old male peregrine falcon "Scotty". Below are some comments from the school:
I am happy to report on the presentation of the Canadian Peregrine Foundation on November 30, 2000. The presentation involved 2 sessions for students from grades 4 to 8.
The students enjoyed the video of the falcon nesting in Etobicoke and the interesting tracking of these endangered animals. Their interest was obvious by their many questions. The presenter was very knowledgeable and caught student attention from the outset. However, the highlight was of course the presentation of the falcon itself. His appearance caused a hush of awe and amazement as they were told of this particular falcon's habits and characteristics.
It was wonderful to see the continued respect for wildlife and concern for endangered species that was shown by our students. They have developed such an appreciation because our school is located at the edge of the Humber Valley Conservation Area. The presentation increased their knowledge of animals and their natural and "displaced" habitats.
Thank you,
Sharon
