In spring 2000, we visited Grandview Public School in Cambridge with our one-year-old male peregrine falcon "Scotty". We haven't received any feedback from the students, but here is a letter from the school:
Our students at Grandview had the opportunity to participate in the School Visit program. Approximately 100 junior students had the incredible experience of seeing a peregrine falcon.
The program offered by the Canadian Peregrine Foundation is one which has immeasurable benefits to young learners. As a result of this "no cost" to us program, our students were sensitized to the plight of the falcons, their habitat requirements and to the extensive research being conducted with this bird of prey.
As educators and keepers of the planet we are responsible to "teach" our students how to care and work towards sustainability for all living creatures. The program which our students participated in would not have been possible had it not been for this Foundation. The presenter was able to provide excellent information and data to raise our levels of awareness.
I support and fully endorse the active pursuit of corporate and private dollars to keep making the program available to schools.
Sincerely yours,
Jacquie
