Project School Visit:
Grand Avenue School (Grimsby)

In October 2002, we returned to the school with 'Falon' our female juvenile  peregrine.  Below is an excerpt from a letter from the principal:

I want to thank you for making it possible for may students to work and learn from Maya and “Falon” last Tuesday. 

For over an hour my junior students were enthralled by the presentation and left with so much knowledge about this wonderful animal and those folks who have worked so hard to bring it back from the edge of extinction. 

The program fits very well into our science curriculums in both grades four and six and has vast environmental links to every grade.  I congratulate sponsor, Friends of the Environment Foundation for the wisdom to invest in this project.  Congratulations to you for entrusting the program delivery to people of Maya’s conviction and dedication.  She is an excellent educator/communicator and did a wonderful job with our children.

Just a brief note of thanks for the excellent presentation that your representative, David Pfeffer, put on for our students.  David was able to keep our students "in the palm of his hand" much like the falcon that he displayed.  His presentation was educational and interesting.  He answered many questions that his talk generated with honesty and concern.  I found the entire presentation delightful and thank your foundation and David for sharing your time with our school.  The information that you left for staff will certainly be put to good use as well as the video.  Bravo!  Please pass along thanks to Canada Trust for sponsoring this excellent educational experience.
