Dear Friends of the Environment Foundation,
On Thursday, January 10, 2002, we were fortunate indeed to be visited by two
very special members of the Canadian Peregrine Foundation -- Tracy and Oscar.
From the very first reference to Ancient Egyptians through to the very last
glimpse of Oscar's majestic wingspan, the students were
mesmerized.
Tracy was a dynamic presenter. Her active involvement of the students and
engaging manner allowed her to deliver a powerful message to our grade 4 and
5 students. Together, Tracy and Oscar enlightened our students about the
plight of the peregrines and how even children can effect a positive change.
Oscar and Tracy also visited a grade 1 class where they were equally well
received. The presentation was tailored to the age level and again, every
student gained valuable information about the bird and what is being done to
help it. These students will long remember their up close and personal
visit with a real falcon.
The presentation contained countless connections to our curriculum, but more
importantly our students came away with a new awareness of their own power to
make a difference. They learned a lot about the peregrine falcon -- they
learned even more about how to make Earth a better place for all living
things.
Young people are the future of environmental protection. Because of
programs such as this, our future will be in good hands.
Thank you for your sponsorship. It is making a difference.
