Project School Visit:
Forest Hill Public School (Kitchener)

Visit sponsored by:  Friends of the Environment

In February 2003, we visited Forest Hill Public School in Kitchener with one of our peregrine falcons..  Below is a note from the school:

I am pleased to write to you to express our appreciation for the wonderful assemblies that your Foundation presented to our students. Maya Basdeo did a superb job of sharing interesting information with our students and engaging them in the learning process by asking questions about the video and her verbal presentation.

Of course, the highlight for all of us was actually seeing a real falcon in all its splendour. Having the bird with us on that occasion literally made the assembly come to life.

We appreciate the opportunity to tie our instruction of curriculum expectations with real life experiences for our students. It is unlikely that many of our students will ever encounter a live falcon in their day to day life. By having community organizations and schools working together, we can enrich the educational

opportunities for our many learners ... and hopefully impact attitudes about respect for our environment also.

Once again, thanks very much for making this opportunity available to us.

Sincerely,

Donna Robinson Principal
