Baron is an adult Ferruginous Hawk, retired from a captive breeding program.  He joined the CPF Education Team in January 2002, and has been named Baron after the WWI flying ace Baron von Richthofen in recognition of his strong reddish colouration and impressive flight skills.  The Ferruginous Hawk is considered vulnerable in Canada. Baron was returned to a breeding program later in 2002, after his stay with the CPF.
