In May 2000, we visited Burford to speak to the students of Maple Ave and Coronation Public Schools. The students had an opportunity to meet "Scotty", our one-year-old male peregrine falcon. Below is a short letter from the principal, followed by drawings by four of the students:
This
is just a short note to thank you for allowing Maple Ave - Coronation P.S. to
participate in your group's presentation schedule.
Marcel, the speaker who made presentations to two groups of our students, did a
tremendous job. Like any good teacher, Marcel had a well-developed rapport
and easy manner with the students. They felt comfortable in asking
questions and Marcel was very knowledgeable in responding to queries. Of
course, Scotty was also a big hit with all of the students.
Thanks to these presentations our students have an increased awareness of
conservation for many different species, not just the peregrine falcon.
Hopefully, the concern raised for these creatures can be maintained until such
concern is no longer so critical.
Please keep us in mind for future presentations, and thanks again for such a
wonderful experience.
Sincerely,
Wayne Baker
