In April 2002, we visited Toronto's Rosethorn Public School with our female peregrine falcon "Ariel". Below is a letter from the principal:
Thank
you to the Canadian Peregrine Foundation for their excellent presentation to our
Grades 4/5/6 students on Friday April 5th 2002. Both students and staff
found the material captivating and informative. We learned a great deal
about endangered species and about the life cycle of the falcon.
The opportunity to see a live bird of prey was a fascinating learning experience
for inner city students. Most of our students have never traveled outside
of the city. We are extremely thankful to the TD Canada Trust - Friends of
the Environment for providing the funding for the deliver of this program to our
school. The staff will use the resources left behind to enhance and
develop our students' knowledge of endangered wildlife.
We highly recommend this program to all Elementary Schools. The
connections to the Ontario Curriculum, Science and Technology made the
demonstration lesson relevant and worthwhile.
Yours truly,
P. Panetta Reinhardt, Principal
