On May 05, 2003 we visited
St. Brigid School with one of our peregrine falcons.
Below is
a letter we received from the school.
I am writing to you on behalf of the staff and students at St. Brigid School to thank you for your presentation on the Peregrine Falcon on May 5, 2003. During the presentation the students were introduced to the Peregrine Falcon as once being an endangered species. The students were taught about DDT and how these industrial and agricultural chemicals have caused the species to decline. Efforts made to protect and track the peregrines were also discussed with the students through an oral presentation and video. The students were very excited when they were able to meet "Ariel" (a Peregrine Falcon), and ask questions to our presenter. This presentation was extremely valuable to our Grade Six students as it specifically ties into our study of "Naturalists" and "Living Things" as part of the Science curriculum. Also, I want to thank TD Canada Trust - Friends of the Environment for not only funding this presentation for our school, but for the excellent teaching guide provided to our teachers on the Peregrine Falcon and Ontario's Endangered Wildlife. The students look very forward to reading and completing all of the activities provided. Once again, thank you for an excellent and invaluable presentation to the staff and students of St. Brigid School. Yours truly, Mr.
