On October 15, 2003 we visited Sacred Heart Catholic School with one of our peregrine falcons. Below is a letter we received from the school.
We had a presentation at our school on October 15 by the Canadian Peregrine Falcon Foundation that was extremely well received by the 100 students and teachers of the grades four and six classrooms. The teachers reported that , "The presenter was well prepared and the content was at an appropriate level for the students' understanding. The presentation was a good length and was very relevant to the curriculum topics of flight and living things. The speaker was friendly, entertaining, amusing and well informed. The students enjoyed her a great deal." "There was a very helpful handout that was provided with excellent supplementary information and follow-up activities. It encouraged extension activities such as conservation, discussions of animal endangerment/extinction, zoos, biology, food chains, etc." It was an added bonus that the program was offered within the school and we did not have to transport the entire group by bus, to an excursion site. It conserved "learning time" for the students. This program is very worthwhile and we would highly recommend it to others. Thank you to Ontario Power Generation and the Foundation for making it possible. Yours truly, Phil Litrenta, Principal
