In March 2003, we visited Quaker Road Public School in Welland with our juvenile female peregrine falcon "Falon". Below is a comment from the school and some drawings from the students:
On March 5 our school received a visit from the Peregrine Foundation. The 'presenter, Maya BasMadeo was extremely enthusiastic and provided information and answered questions for our grade 6 classes. She quickly established a rapport with the students and held their interest for the duration of the presentation.
The information that the students received tied in nicely and re-enforced concepts teamed in" our grade 6 science unit - Biodiversity of Living Things. Having a hands-on, visual perspective helps to capture students' interest in science.
We would also like to thank the Ontario Power Generation Company for their efforts in sponsoring this worthwhile program. Without the support of companies such as this, it is often difficult to produce educational programs. Students are beginning to learn that environmental partnerships between industry & business and environmental/wild1ife groups are the best way of effecting a positive change.
We hope to see this project continue and would like to have you back next year for another presentation.
Yours in conservation - Todd Acaster
