The grade 4 to grade 6 students of Williamson Rd P.S. thank you for bringing the Canadian Peregrine Foundation to our school on February 15,2005.

The school visit accommodated 180 of our students. Students first watched a video called "Life on the Ledge". This video introduced students to urban peregrine nest sites. Students were given ample opportunity to interact with the educator, Michael Fazackerley.

Then the highlight, a peregrine falcon was brought out. Students were mesmerized by this majestic bird. Students learned many facts about the peregrine falcon and when the presentation was done, had acquired more respect for this bird, especially for its' recent recovery from near extinction.

Students learned about habitats, ecosystems, the food chain, endangered species and characteristics of flight. All of which are directly tied to the grade 4 to 6 science curriculum.

The quality of the presentation was excellent. It was interactive and relevant to the curriculum. Student interest was high. Pacing was age appropriate. The lesson followed a logical sequence and the information shared was stimulating. The presenter answered all questions respectfully and gave accurate information.

Williamson Rd P.S. greatly appreciated the generosity of the Howitt/Dunbar Foundation for allowing us the opportunity to learn about and meet a peregrine falcon free of charge.
