On Friday January 14th, 2005, our junior division at Connaught Public School had the opportunity to see a presentation by the Canadian Peregrine Foundation. I am the Junior Science teacher at Connaught and I can honestly say that this was one of the best presentations I have seen. There were two 45 minute sessions and the feedback from both was extremely positive. During the session that I attended, the students sat quietly listening to Michael, watched the video and asked relevant questions at the end. Michael was an excellent presenter who had a great rapport with the students and was extremely knowledgeable about his subject. With the amount of information given during the presentation, it was easy to tie it to the gr 4 Habitats curriculum. The students were fascinated with "Falon(?)" the 4 year old falcon and were very aware that they had to remain calm and quiet around a wild animal.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ontario Power Generation for making this all possible. Some of the students at Connaught are not financially able to contribute money towards class trips, so it is even more special to them when they are to experience engaging programs of this calibre. Thank you again for this opportunity. Enclosed are some pictures that some of the students have drawn.
Sincerely,
Miss Pennington
Grade 6 Connaught.
