We would like to thank you for visiting our school and allowing our staff and students the opportunity to meet and learn about an endangered animal. When Michael Fazackerley arrived at our school with "'Sanchos", he was fully prepared, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He first made a presentation to the grade 4's, and then another presentation to the grade 6's. The presentations were adapted to address the curriculum areas of each grade (e.g.. Characteristics of Flight for grade 6, Habitats for grade 4), and captivated the attention of both students and staff. The resources, including the reference booklets and video, that Michael gave to our school are very much appreciated and will be put to good use in the teaching of our Science programs.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank The TD Canada Trust - Friends of the Environment for providing the funding for you to visit our school and deliver such a worthwhile program. It is one thing for students to read about endangered animals, but quite another thing to actually meet one. When the living creature is right in front of the students, it emphasizes the fragility of all living things and the need to do what we can to ensure their safety. After making a personal connection with "Sanchos", I feel confident the idea of preserving endangered animals (particularly the Peregrine Falcon) is more relevant to the students. Thank you TD Canada Trust - Friends of the Environment for making this meeting of students and animal possible.

Both students and staff were impressed by the scope of the presentation and the close-up encounter with such an impressive bird. The students thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and were motivated to ask many follow-up questions, both in the presentation and back in the classroom.

Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Elaine Heaver (grade 5/6 teacher)
