Project School Visit:
David H. Church Public School
On October the 14th, 2004, we visited Orillia's David H. Church Public School. Below is a letter from the school.
I would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for hosting the visit of Michael Fazackerly from the Canadian Peregrine Foundation, and Octesh, the falcon to our school.
All of the students and teachers in Grades 4 to 6 expressed their positive comments to me
regarding the falcon presentation. The presenter used a calm, quiet thoughtful approach with the
students. Throughout the presentation, the students were captivated and engaged. The morning
provided much useful information with respect to the science curriculum. The topics covered
involved the curriculum by discussing the ecosystem, food chain, endangered species, and impact
of people on the environment (both positive and negative) and the interdependence of all living
things.
Octesh and his bag of tricks delighted and centered the students on the possible extinction of such
a beautiful creature. It was a much appreciated and excellent presentation. On behalf of the staff
and students of David H. Church, I am sending along an immense Thank-You.
Sincerely yours,
Eileen E. Leishman
Vice-Principal
