Project School Visit:
Westcreek Public School
On January the 29th, 2004, we visited Pickering's Westcreek Public School. Below is a letter sent to us from the school.
Today Westcreek Public School received a visit from Ariel the Peregrine Falcon, and her handler Maya Basdeo. They visited with our grade four, five and six classes this afternoon in the library.
First of all, we would like to thank the Ontario Power Generation for their generous sponsorship of this event. The presentation included many links to the current Ontario Science Curriculum without any cost to students.
The presentation itself was very information and entertaining. Maya did an excellent job presenting the information to the students using grade-appropriate vocabulary and humour. The students were very interested to find out about this "almost extinct" natural wonder.
The additional resources include an excellent variety of activities which support and expand upon the information presented. Many students are looking forward to learning more, and some are particularly excited to complete a drawing of a peregrine falcon.
Yours Respectfully,
The Staff and Students of Westcreek
