Dear Peregrine Falcon Foundation,
Thank you for coming to our school. Now I know that DDT was used for killing bugs. Then the DDT stopped hurting the bugs. The bugs ate the DDT then other birds would eat the bugs. When the Peregrine Falcons ate the birds the DDT would go into their body. DDT made the falcons eggs weak and break.
From Malcolm
We are sending you this letter to express our gratitude for your organization's presentation at our school.
Ariel came to our school on February 9th, 2004 and the students are still talking about it! They are currently studying endangered species in the French curriculum and when they saw pictures of a falcon in their text, they remembered the "real one" they got to meet! In addition, they were able to answer questions related to their memories of the presentation.
It is wonderful to offer this kind of experience to a school community that, often times, cannot participate in other extra-curricular activities due to the financial constraints. We would like to send a big thank-you to the sponsor, Ontario Power Generation, for assisting in this interactive and educational program.
The student comments at the end of the day included "that was cool!", "she (the bird) was beautiful", "I've never been that close to a real big bird". The teacher comments at the end of the day included: "it was very well done", "the teacher resource book is fabulous" "the kids loved it".
We hope you like some of the pictures included with this letter, keep up the great work!
Sincerely,
The junior division staff and students
