Project School Visit:
St. Paul Catholic School
On April the 13th, 2004, we visited Guelph's St. Paul Catholic School. Below is a letter from the school.
Everyone here in the grade 6 class at St. Paul
school would like to thank you. You made it possible for
the Canadian Peregrine Foundation to come in to our
class and allow us to learn all about falcons and other
birds. During the presentation we learned how
dangerous DDT was and still is. We also learned that
Peregrine falcons have been an endangered species for
many years since DDT. We now know that there are
foundations trying to bring them back in Canada by
breeding them.
The Peregrine falcon that came into our class was a
female bird named Ariel. She was one of the birds that
was bred in captivity to lay eggs and repopulate the
population of Peregrine falcons. Ariel was born in the
care of the Peregrine Falcon Foundation and has been
under their care ever since. She laid eggs until she was
no longer able to and now she goes to schools to teach
children all about her breed of falcons.
We really wanted to take this chance to thank you
because this was a great learning experience for all of
us. Thanks for supporting the Canadian Peregrine
Foundation and we hope you continue to give this
opportunity to other children. Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
The grade 6 class at St. Paul School
