Project School Visit:
Ponsonby Public School
On April the 14th, 2004, we visited Guelph's Ponsonby Public School. Below are letters from the school and some of the students.
We had the pleasure of having a visit from one of your representatives, Maya Basdeo, at Ponsonby Public School today. She gave our grade 4's and our grade 6's an excellent
presentation in our library.
The students were inspired by having the opportunity to observe the peregrine falcon close up
and live. They learned that DDT was killing the species and how-it is also involved in the
human food chain as well. They especially appreciated hearing about how the species has been
revived through intensive intervention and human support. This workshop gave a new
perspective to their understanding of environmental issues and increased their awareness.
The visit was well organized and Maya was very enthusiastic. We were delighted to have her in
the school. Her energy and commitment to the Foundation was infectious. I told her that I am
already looking forward to her visit next year.
Thank you for making this opportunity available to our students.
Sincerely,
Katrina Plazek
