Project School Visit:
Elginburg and District Public School

Visit sponsored by: The Lloyd Carr-Harris Foundation

On October the 31st, 2003, we visited Elginburg and District's Public School. Below is a letter from the school.

Last Friday, October 31, many of the students at our school spent a unique and fascinating hour learning about the Great Horned Owl. The young lady representing your organization ( Maya Basdeo ) held each audience's attention from start to finish despite the fact that it was Hallowe'en - a credit to her exemplary speaking style/skills. The presentation was dynamic, dramatic and entertaining as well as informative. When "Alex" was finally brought out of ITS cage, all eyes were rivetted on this magnificent creature. Several students were given the thrill of a lifetime when they were given the honour of holding Alex for a little while. I also had this privilege just before Maya and Alex left our school; it is certainly one of this year's highlights for me, one which I will treasure forever.

Many, many staff members and students have commented to me since last Friday morning what a wonderful presentation that was! We would welcome other visits in future from your organization, and we highly recommend you to other schools. Feel free to share this letter with any other schools who are interested in arranging for a visit.

Thank you for providing this invaluable presentation to our school. Other teachers have told me they will write letters of appreciation. I will forward these as I receive them. Thank you again for this very special, educational experience.

Sincerelv,
Diane Provan,
Principal
