January 2002 -- If you are frustrated at how difficult it can be to find owls, this photo might give you a clue as to why. Saw-whet Owls are often quite well concealed by day. In this case, there was a narrow angle through which the bird could be seen to the extent it is visible in this photo, but from almost anywhere else, it was almost entirely hidden by the foliage.
