HamiltonMiscellaneous updates -- 1998 |
Monday, May 25
We have 4 winners of the Hamilton Spectator/Canadian Peregrine Foundation random-draw chick-naming contest:
"Freedom" Ralph Reid,
Hamilton, Ontario
"Navigator" Sarah Walton, Selkirk, Ontario
"Phoenix" Evan Treharne, Hamilton, Ontario
"High Rise" James Dominko, Hamilton, Ontario
Congratulations to the winners!
Monday, March 23 -- The
"official" opening of the Falcon Watch Centre will be on Thursday, April 30. We
expect to have the Centre open and functioning before then, but on that day there will be
a press conference and special guests including the Ontario Minister of Natural Resources.
-- JMG CompuSmart of Hamilton has not only provided us with the computer that will allow
us to transfer the video signal to the internet, but they have in fact provided the
computers for all three Falcon Watch Centres in Hamilton, Etobicoke and Toronto.
Saturday, April 18
-- We have live video! As of this afternoon, a small monitor has been set up in the Falcon
Watch Centre to display the signal from the video camera mounted on the roof. Later in the
week, we'll have some furniture and a larger monitor and someone available to answer
questions. Perhaps also by the end of the week we will have a link established to show the
live video on this page.
Wednesday, April 22
-- In the morning, Nadine and Mark (CPF), Nathalie and Nicole (from the Wild Bird Clinic
in Guelph) and Calypso did an interview with ON TV at the Falcon Watch Center in the
Sheraton/Jackson Square. ON TV were there for 1.5 hours.
-- From noon to 2:00, Calypso, Nathalie and Nicole, along with Bill Green (director of
CPF) particpated in an "Earth Day" presentation at the Canada Trust branch at
Fennel and Upper Ottawa.
