ETOBICOKE HOME PAGE ARCHIVES January - February 2004 |

Mark Nash reports:
Over the past months, I have been tuning into the new Etobicoke nest camera,
and been very lucky to have caught the adults more often than not - on the nest
ledge, sitting very close to each other on the nest tray itself. Sadly, the past three
days, the computer had crashed, and like many, I have not been able to get my peregrine
fix. Finally, I got the chance to attend to the computer and re-boot it to get the live image
back on line, and much to my surprise and delight, both adults were present when the
camera image was restored. I was able to spend several hours with the birds while
working on the computer to restore the image. Angle, the adult female has a HUGH
full crop as she sat on the nest tray (see the photo gallery
for a picture). Marco, had his back to me most of the time, but
seemed quite happy to spend some quiet times with his mate on the nest tray. They were both
still together on my departure.
It appears that the aging 486 computer is on its last legs, and we may experience future problems in the future with the camera image. We're hopeful that a new more modern computer can be found to upgrade the system so we don't have these reoccurring problems as the nesting season unfolds.
Although the falcon watch centre in the Clarica centre had to be closed due to the rental of the suite, we will continue to bring you the live updated image to the CPF web site on the Etobicoke page.
We are preparing the coordination of the fledge watch, and are all looking forward to another successful nesting season.
